    WHO WE ARE

THE BEGINNING OF THE ALABAMA CHARTER

In June 2003 while at the American Legion Post #155, James Seese and Rusty Watts conceived the idea of starting the Alabama Charter of The American Legion Riders. The two of them found out what was required of them to start the State Charter of the ALR. Jim and Rusty then talking four other legion members into joining the Alabama State Charter. These founding members that took the jump into an unknown direction to form an orgainzation that has become one of the fastest growing units of the American Legion. These founding members are James Seese and Rusty Watts, Maria Seese, Debbie Watts, Doug Arnold, and Mike Watts. From these six founding members the start of a new Charter in the State of Alabama of The American Legion Riders (ALR)had begun.

Information letters were mailed to all post in State of Alabama for notification of formation of the Alabama Charter. The charter membership of the American legion Riders from the State of Alabama had a cut off date set for JAN. 31, 2004. This mear seven months from the start of the Alabama ALR charter showed great growth for the ALR Charter Membership which continued to grow with the creation of District 13, Post 8 out of Gunnersville, Alabama. At the end of the charter membership deadline the total state Charter finished at 103 as of the cut off date of Jan. 31, 2004.
